The primary use for the Delta Magnetic Water Conditioner is to combat scale build-up, corrosion and break down existing build-up.

This scale build-up occurs in water pipes, hot water systems, household appliances and any other surface the water may come in contact with, building up a “lime-scale”.

This “lime-scale” in industry reduces efficiency of equipment, increases fuel requirements and increases maintenance time and costs.

Maintaining scale free surfaces allows maximum heat transfer and utilization of equipment. In other areas this “lime-scale” build-up reduces the interior diameter of the pipe leading to inefficiency, blockage and even total destruction of the pipe or appliance.

Delta Magnetic Water Conditioners prevent this behaviour with the use of Magnetics. Magnetics is a superior, proven, environmentally safe non-chemical approach to the treatment of fluids. The cost of chemicals used to control scale and corrosion in most cases can be totally eliminated.

The three main areas where Delta is successfully used, is combating problems associated with excessive levels of CALCIUM, IRON and SALT in the water.

With CALCIUM many of the problems are mentioned in an earlier paragraph, however problems also occur in plumbing, hot water systems, farm water supplies and micro and dripper irrigation systems.

With IRON in the water the Delta prevents the build-up of the soft iron oxide scale and breaking down existing build up, in pumps, piping, irrigation equipment including micro, drippers and drip tape and greatly reducing staining, in many cases eliminating the red iron staining.

With Delta treatment water with higher than normal levels of SALT can be used for irrigation without harmful effects to plants. Delta treatment prevents leaf burn, yellowing of leaves and improves crop performance. There are many Delta Magnetic Water Conditioners installed for this reason throughout Australia.

Delta treatment has shown to reduce salt build-up in soil. Testing has also shown reduced sodium and chloride levels in plant tissue.

Three Models -     Standard         Ind            SB

There are three models of the Delta Magnetic Water Conditioner, each based on the strength of magnetic field focussed into the water, or fluid being treated.

Each model is designed to achieve the desired strength of magnetic field in the centre of the pipe the Delta is installed on, and not measured at the surface of the magnets.

The Standard model having the lowest strength of magnetic field in the centre of the pipe and the SB model having the highest strength of magnetic field in the centre of the pipe.

Two styles - "Clamp On" and "Flanged"

All three Models of the Delta Magnetic Water Conditioner are made in two styles

The Clamp-On Delta CU range -

The Pictures above show the three Delta Clamp-On models for 40mm/1 1/2" pipe.

Made in two halves to fit over the existing pipe, (provided the pipe is of a non-magnetic material, do not install on galvanized iron or mild steel pipe.

Clamp-On Delta's are made to fit onto 12mm / 1/2" to 50mm / 2" sized pipes (also 63mm metric poly pipe)

The Delta Clamp-On, simply place the two halves over the pipe and bolt together.

The Flanged Delta SU range -

Made on HDPE pipe (high quality polythene) with Slip Ring Galvanized Mild Steel or Stainless Steel flanges at either end.

Flanged Delta's can be made using copper or stainless steel pipe if the application requires it.

Installation involves cutting a piece out of the pipeline the Delta Unit is to be fitted into and attaching flanges to either cut end. The distance between the faces of the flanges on the pipeline should be equivalent to the length of the Delta Unit, taking into account the thickness of the gaskets that fit between the flanges.

Flanged Delta Units are made to fit pipe sizes from 75mm / 3" to 600mm / 24". Delta Units for larger pipe sizes can be designed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN AROUND?

Using principles discovered in 1888 (by Michael Faraday), the system has gradually evolved, and with recent advances in magnet technology and five years of research and development by Delta Magnetic Technologies resulting in the simple , compact, yet very powerful DELTA MAGNETIC WATER CONDITIONER. Products treating water magnetically have been commercially available for more than 30 years in Europe and USA, and imported into Australia for the past 20 years. Use of magnets for therapeutic treatments has been documented for hundreds of years.

Q2. WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD ABOUT IT BEFORE?

Manufacturers, mainly overseas, have previously made devices using low-powered electromagnets, alnico or ferrite magnets. This early low powered approach, together with lobbying by the powerful chemical companies against the concept and scepticism to such a seemingly simple device has caused some negative attitude to the concept.

Q3. HOW DOES IT WORK?

Powerful, long lasting (only a 4% power loss in 100 years) Neodymium alloy "super magnets" create a specially focused force field. This magnetic field induces a positive charge in the fluid, ionizing (separating into H+ and H-) some of the water molecules and loosening the hydrogen bonding between others. This reduces the surface tension, making the water more soluble and restoring good sudsing and rinsing qualities. To put it simply the water acts softer. This re-arrangement of the molecules effectively changes the character of the water, mineral salts and lime-scale particles. The mineral salts in the water, (Calcium, Magnesium and Iron are the biggest offenders) will not form a scale on any surface the water comes in contact with. Not only do the mineral salts, in effect, remain in solution, there is also a break down of the existing scale deposits in pipes and infrastructures. Held In suspension, these particles are now flushed through the system and out to waste. With iron in Water supplies, mainly bore water, Delta stops build up in submersible pumps, piping, filters stay cleaner, drip and micro irrigation equipment does not block. Delta will prevent iron staining of plants and a reduction in staining of buildings, fences and concrete paths will be noticed.

Q4. IS INSTALLATION EASY?

DELTA units up to and including SU75 (3') are made in two halves as a Clamp-on unit, to install simply split and fit around the pipe, tightening up the two retaining screws. Designed to fit over any non-magnetic pipe or hose, i.e. Poly, PVC, Copper, Stainless or Rubber, the unit requires no external wires for power or earthing, and can be installed underground for security, or at any angle for convenience. In the case of galvanized pipe, a small length must be cut out, and a piece of PVC or poly inserted to mount the DELTA unit. DELTA units SU100' (4") and over to SU300 (12") come as an assembly, mounted on a length of Stainless Steel or HDPE pipe with Flanges for ease of installation. NOTE: it is MOST important that unit is installed in the marked DIRECTION of FLOW.

Q5. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE DISSOLVED LIME-SCALE & SALTS?

While the majority of lime-scale and salts are simply dissolved and flushed away, there is a possibility that some small pieces may flake off and be noticed in showerheads, sprinkler nozzles, etc, for a period of time, just how long depends on the thickness of the existing scale build up. Treated water will greatly assist in the translocation of salts and calcium through the soil and minimize the impact on soil structure. Non wetting soils will accept more water and gradually improve long-term water uptake It should be noted that the dissolved salts and minerals are in a form that may be beneficial to livestock health.

Q6. WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE FOR INSTALLATION?

To maximize protection, and where practical, it is suggested that the unit be placed as close to the point of use as possible if the water is being pumped over a long distance . However where the water source is close to the point of use, install the unit as close to the source as practical, this may be at the meter or after a bore pump etc. However at least one meter from large three phase electric motors. It has been found that the electromagnetic field created by large three phase electric pump motors can interfere with the magnetic field of the Delta Units, greatly reducing their performance. The water loses its "Magnetic Effect" after six to eight days so the DELTA unit should be placed after storage tanks, or in buildings with closed loops, additional units may be required (i.e. in evaporative air conditioners or cooling towers)

Q7. HOW WILL I KNOW IF IT WORKS ON MY WATER?

Before installation, simply wash your hands with soap, then, running water through the DELTA unit IN THE MARKED DIRECTION OF FLOW rinse and wash the hands again. The change in soap performance with increased lather will be noticeable and in most cases instant. NOTE: Depending on the concentration of minerals and salts in the water, the age of the system and the degree of existing scale build up there may be a STABILISATION PERIOD of up to four to six weeks, the change may be gradual, and indeed may appear worse, at the beginning it can be somewhat hard to notice. Use of meters to test the action may be somewhat futile, as the majority of available metering is not suitable to register the types of changes usually occurring. REMEMBER, we are changing the physical and electrical, not chemical composition so traditional tests don't work. However measurable changes can be detected, such as decrease in the surface tension of the water, change in the electrical conductivity of the water, slight movement of the pH of the water to neutral and increasing the viscosity not just of water but any other fluid.

Q8. HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

Current indications are that the permanent magnets used in construction of the DELTA unit will lose only 3% of their power in 70 years, a service life in excess of 100 years, with NO MAINTENANCE NEEDED ... EVER.

Q9. IS IT SAFE?

Magnetic Water Conditioners are recognized as the safest way to condition water. Californian legislation promotes the use of magnetic water conditioners, with penalties for the use of resin based ion exchange systems in most counties. There are no detrimental effects, no chemicals, power requirements, and no soil residues to pollute ground water or to suppress effluent treatment plant action. It has been noted DELTA treated water will reduce the incidence of slime build-up, and control of most forms of algae in air conditioning systems, Hydroponic setups and stock troughs

Q10. WHAT COST SAVINGS CAN I EXPECT?

Removing calcium build-up from pipes and hot-water systems will reduce overall energy usage, reduce pumping costs and give long-term savings in replacement and repair costs of appliances, evaporative coolers, control valves and rubber components. Acid flush-out is never required as all pipe work is maintained build-up free. Surface tension of the water is changed, giving Improved lather and detergent efficiency which will allow for reductions in surfactants and soap/powder use. Reduced time to clean wet areas. Reduced need for buffers in chemigation (water now acts as though neutral). Improved flow-ability of fertilizers reducing mixing time and pump out costs. Fertilizers translocate through the soil more readily, effectively supplying a bigger root area, giving a more efficient uptake. Reduction in water use due to more efficient watering. Greater root development, giving a greater water bank, which reduces opportunities for stress. NOTE: growers using enviroscan/neutron probe type monitoring may need to factor in some corrections to compensate for the change in flow through soils.

Q11. WHAT IF I HAVE A SALT TYPE SOFTENER?

Fit DELTA in the normal way, before the existing softener, and it will increase the efficiency of the softener resin. It must be understood a DELTA unit will not remove any minerals from the water as a softener does. However it must be remembered that for every gram of mineral (calcium, iron etc) a salt softener removes from the water it replaces with an equivalent amount of sodium salt.

Q12. DOES THE PRODUCT COME WITH A WARRANTY?

All DELTA units come with: 25 year guarantee on the performance of the magnets. 3 year guarantee on workmanship. 120 day money back guarantee, that when used in accordance with the instructions, calcium build-up will be eliminated and existing calcium build-up reduced, or full invoice price will be refunded to the original purchaser.
